Sam Rollinson

[Ed. Note: Sam Rollinson first caught our eye as one of the fresh faces on Balenciaga's Spring 2013 runway and campaign stars. As fashion month comes to a close the 18 year old Brit has proven herself to be the face of the now. Models.com already declared her a top face of the season, and we predict she'll be a force to be reckoned with this fall. A perfect mix of high brow and super chill, Rollinson has the look that translates from Alexander Wang to Prada and all in between. We stopped her backstage at Reed Krakoff for a quick chat.]

“I’m from a small town in Northern England, an hour away is all English countryside and rolling hills. I like to go there when I’m home. I got scouted when I was 13 at something called the Clothes Share. I was just walking with my mom, and someone came around and said, “You could be a model.”  I signed up with Select and have been with them ever since, really.

Mainly what goes through my head when I’m getting dressed is that I’ve got to feel comfortable in my outfit  because I’ll be wearing it all day. You don’t want to be wearing shorts that are too short or shoes that are uncomfortable. Most of the time, unless it’s boiling hot, I wear jeans and a t-shirt.  I have three pairs of Doc Martens, boots and shoes. I wear them basically every day.I got my hair cut shorter two years ago. Then, I got it cut into this bob for a job. I like short hair. I don’t really mess with it. I just brush it. I’m quite lazy.

In September, I walked for Balenciaga. I closed the show, so that was the most exciting thing that had happened to me so far. That was probably the biggest show I’d ever done at that point. I was nervous, but it’s good to be. If you don’t feel anything, then I think there’s something wrong. It would be a bit grim really. It’s good to be nervous. It turned out all right in the end. I didn’t fall over, so that’s good!” — Sam Rollinson to SHOP GHOST
