"I was just tired of all that glamour around me, and I wanted to wear sneakers."

“My Mum didn`t have a lot of clothes – in the Soviet Union, there were
very few places to buy clothes. The most fashionable items (jeans) you
could buy only from some random resellers. My Mum dressed rather
simply, but she tought me to apppreciate that kind of simplicity,
when it can actuallly bear a lot of meaning. Together we watched such
movies like A Man and a Woman, where Anouk Aimée looked so elegant and
feminine in her simple coat…

To get to know Russia you shouldn`t go to Moscow – this city is not
about our country…I don`t like most things that are going on in Russia
today, and it hurts me. That is why I prefer to appreciate the past;
for example the old churches and convents in little old Russian towns,
church bells and endless fields. All of it is located outside the
capitol.

I think designer`s job is to dress as many people as possible, make
them look great, instead of creating stuff that only he or she would
like to wear. I wear my designs only because it is an essential
expression of my creative process. Besides, it is the perfect way
for me to demonstrate my own designs.
